As we were getting out of the car this morning, Liz and I heard a bit of an NPR segment this morning about this travesty. She was disappointed she didn't get to hear the whole thing. I told her not to worry, it would be on the blog.
This is a nice detail:
The share given to the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will be more than $100,000 each, and most other home teams will received about $50,000.

There's a Spider man 2? Cool!
It's called controversy to generate free advertising, folks. Consider yourself fished in.

Name: MarcYeah, but it makes me want to not see the movie or watch baseball, and in fact it makes me wish failure for both of them.

Name: TonyEnough fan outrage was generated after the announcement of this deal that the ads will be taken off the bases. There will still be ads on the on-deck circles, fans will still receive Spiderman 2 masks and foam fingers and the pitchers rubber and home plate will still be covered by a ceremonial ad, which will be removed before the game starts. It's still ugly, but at least it's off the field of play.
As for the effect this is having, well, I booed a Spiderman 2 trailer while watching TV last night. The odds of me seeing this movie weren't good to begin with. Now, rather than just something I'll ignore, it'll be something I will actively disdain.
