It's one thing when lunatic O's fans suggest this kind of garbage on local talk radio. But to have the manager of a club come right out and say "We can't compete, let's change the rules" is out and out ridiculous. My gut tells me that Mazilli's merely towing the company line in order to cozy up to Angelos and keep his job. I think he'll lose his job anyway, despite this last ditch effort. The O's will probably bring in someone like Art Howe, because of his sterling record with the Mets and their near-the-top-of-the-league payroll. If he can mangage one team with a huge payroll, no pitching and piss-poor talent evaluation into the ground, why not two.
